The fritolini were born in the early 1800's: the word comes from venetia dialect frizar, meaning to froy, for these early fast food eateries offred fish fried on the spot, then wrapped in absorbent paper to eat immediately or take away. these picturesque places have disappeared but the Vecio Fritolin is a lasting monument to a popular venitian tradition once enjoed by rich and poor alike and the restaurant continues to prepare this historic finger food.
